Acklen Acoustic presents Kris Acklen and Dan Montgomery August 27 at Otherlands Coffee Bar.
Long time Memphian, and New Jersey native, Dan Montgomery champions people in his songwriting that are less likely to be shown compassion, or given much grace, though it's those people who may need it the most. This is why he's been on our radar for over a decade as one of Acklen Acoustic's favorite songwriters. We discovered Dan when he was performing and promoting the "Rosetta, please (a love story)" album. The song "Outside" from that record made us forever fans. Since then, Dan's catalog has grown to 5 full length albums with one on the way, titled "Cast-Iron Songs and Torch Ballads." We're very excited to hear what's to come from his new record during his performance with us on Aug 27!
Acklen Acoustic founder and Memphis native, Kris Acklen makes his living as a sound engineer and music producer in service to acts locally and nationally. Naturally, Kris gains his inspiration by listening, and he attributes his recent songwriting to the impact that other's stories have had on him. Releasing later this year, Kris' single "Love for Free" is a pandemic inspired love song that asks the age-old question, "Why does the love run out with the money, when I give you my love for free?" Kris is looking forward to his Aug 27 showcase and plans to debut a few new songs from his summer writing sessions.
